Finding a voice through music

Music therapy gives seriously ill and disabled children a way to express feelings and experiences that can’t always be spoken. Through sound, rhythm and play, children can communicate, connect, and feel truly heard.

What is music therapy?

The healing language of sound

Music therapy is a clinical, evidence-based practice delivered by qualified therapists. Using improvised music, singing, and movement, therapists respond to each child’s mood and needs in the moment, creating a space where emotion and imagination can flow freely.

For children who are anxious, isolated or in pain, music therapy can bring moments of calm and connection. For those who cannot communicate, music opens up a world of expression and conversation. For families, it offers hope, and the joy of seeing their child engage and respond in ways that words cannot capture.

Music Therapy in Children's Hospices and Hospitals

Comfort and connection in hospices and hospitals

Jessie’s Fund works with over 40 children’s hospices and hospital wards across the UK, helping children and families experience comfort, release, and connection through music — even at life’s most difficult times.

If you are a professional working in a children’s hospice or hospital and would like to discuss how we can support access to music therapy in your setting, please get in touch.

I feel very emotional to see such a profound response from our son. Many other children we have met seem to be able to respond to music and interact on a level they cannot do through any other medium. It offers opportunities for children and their wider families to experience something very special together and creates wonderful memories to treasure forever.
